Proposal: Desoccupy: A Statement of the Land

The purpose of this statemen is to 1) Acknowledge the colonial history of the US, 2) Acknowledge the violent oppression against Indigenous Communities, 3) Recognize the connotations that "occupy" carries, and 4) Seek unity and solidarity among the occupy movement and the First Nations

Wherehas, the participants of Occupy San Diego acknowledge that the history of the USA has been based on the occupation and colonization of stolen indigenous lands, and we acknoeledge the irony that we "occupy" land of the Kumeyaay Nation--

Whereas, Indigenous people have continously resisted the systematic and violent oppression of the corporate colonialism--

We, the General Assembly of Occupy San Diego, in seeking to embrace a unifying and inclusive vision, tolerant of the diversity of the worlds fecundity, seek for the involvement and wisdom of the First Nations in all settlers states to help rebuild a new society on their ancestral lands.
